In the store: Colorific

Much to our delight, we found recently came across some upholstered pieces that are a feast for the eyes. The two orange club chairs are part of a room vignette that includes lots of chrome and glass, a multi-colored abstract shag area rug, orange and yellow glass and an 8-foot orange fireplace.

Our newest piece is a 12-foot sectional sofa in bright red that has been beautifully reupholstered. I keep trying to figure out a way to smuggle this out of the store and into my house, but I get the feeling the SIL would notice.

Spring is the perfect season for this wonderful burst of color, which officially puts an end to the winter blahs.

  1. All very nice - I would have either of them in my home. That is one hell of a funky rug in the first pic!

  2. At first glance I thought pic one was from a home style magazine! So perfect. Yes, the couch is wonderful, can you sneak it home one cushion at a time? It would be tempting.

  4. @DearHelenHartman and Bandita: Thanks, ladies. Love that positive reinforcement! But I've got to give credit where credit is due. My daughter is the merchandiser in the family. She worked for Pier 1 for seven years during high school and college, and she has an amazing eye for setting a floor. She comes up with all our furniture arrangement. The most I ever do is place a few smalls.

  5. @Moondoggie: When my SIL brought that rug home, I groaned. I never thought we'd have anything we could display it with. Then we found bright yellow safari chairs...and then some funky bright green leather chairs and now these orange club chairs. It's so useful that we've decided to keep it as a fixture rather than sell it. His eye was much keener than his mother-in-law's on that purchase!

  6. Gah, this is just so good on every possible level. It's so funny that I didn't see this until now, after spending the morning poring over fabric samples for my rocking chair. I'd have settled on the bright red MUCH faster after seeing how painfully awesome this couch looks in it!
I can't imagine how tempting it would be to take home EVERYTHING in that fabulous shop. It must be a learned ability. :)

  7. @adriane: If you're near a Jo-ann's fabric store, they carry a gorgeous red upholstery weight fabric. I've bought it for several projects. The red sofa has already sold, so temptation has been removed once more. :)

  9. @Midcenturymadam: Yes, I did. Thanks for trying. Maybe the people from the water/waste management dept here will follow up on it.
