On the road again

We've sold so much furniture in the last couple of weeks that inventory was getting really low, so my SIL hit the road yesterday morning on a picking trip. The original plan was for him to go to Austin and Houston and all points in between. However, he did so well in Austin that he decided to postpone the Houston leg of the trip.

A long surfboard coffee table, a nice 2-drawer side table, a beautiful pair of American of Martinsville end tables, a unique spun fiberglass coffee table, a gorgeous Packard Bell console stereo and a vintage Click Clack sofa were all great finds, but the knock-your-socks-off buy of the trip was an Adrian Pearsall gondola sofa and matching chair with pristine original upholstery.

Here's former owner Rich taking a farewell sit-down on the sofa right before my SIL loaded it up and headed for home.

Today will be spent resetting the floor of the store, doing all the requisite buying trip paperwork and taking pictures of everything for the website, so stay tuned to see all the wonderful things my savvy SIL found.

  1. Crap...except for the paperwork, you guys are living the dream! Well, my dream anyway. I'm so glad the shop is working out. I wasn't so sure, but you seem to be raking it in hand over fist!

  2. @Mr.Modtomic: The "paperwork" is really just a little computer work. I have to enter the new items into inventory, make tags for them and update the website. That, and buying smalls, is my part of the work. The SIL does the heavy lifting and controls the purse strings. It's been a dream of ours for a while, but it's not without sacrifice, since they put their house on the market to accomplish this. For their sake, especially, I'm really happy that it's going so well.
