Lately everything's been coming up case goods. We've found chests and buffets and dressers and credenzas and bookcases and room dividers. It may seem like we're overloaded, but it really isn't a problem to have so many of these items in stock, because they typically move very quickly.
Yesterday the SIL sold a credenza in the morning. Then I watched
the store while he and my daughter and the boys went out of town to an estate sale, and I sold another credenza...the 88" one pictured below. Another customer almost bought a 54" credenza, also pictured below, but she said she wanted to go home and measure and would come back today. A couple looked seriously at the room divider and said they'd be back. Then we got an email from a customer who wanted us to hold a dresser till 11 o'clock this morning when the store opens. Interestingly, when people tell us they're coming back, they generally do.
This is the type of turnover we've come to expect for case goods, so you can see why we're constantly buying them and why we're pleased that we've found so many of them lately. Take a look at our newest ones.

ReplyDelete@Sudha: I agree. It's the perfect size for an apartment or short wall in a house...and the best part is in the details. The pulls are gorgeous, and so are the drawers.

ReplyDelete@DearHelenHartman: Yep, they picked up a GORGEOUS working Motorola console stereo from 1966 that looks like it was designed to go with Brasilia furniture, a couple of chairs and a table.
ReplyDeleteThese are all amazing... That room divider is so perfect for mid-century homes. Our little ranch has that awkward space between "dining room" and "living room," and I dream of someday finding a room divider like this. I love the shape and the wood grain. And for the record, our credenza is not nearly as nice as yours, (significant damage to the veneer in several places) and we happily paid close to the price of your first one. It's so nice that you price things so that people can actually buy them!

DeleteI have a this exact same room divider in it's original finish, that I would like to sell. My mother believes it was purchased in 1966. It does have some minor scratches. If you are interested, I could send some pics to you.
@adriane: We're trying really hard to buy things that need no restoration and that we can still price affordably. So far, so good. :)
