Yay for A/C repairmen!

This has nothing whatsoever to do with anything mid-century modern...unless you count the fact that my house was built in 1950 and all the windows have been painted shut for decades...but my A/C went out a couple of days ago, and it's been 92 degrees inside my house (that's over 33 degrees for you Celsius folks). I suppose some might consider that cool, at least compared to the 101 degrees (38+C) that it is outside.

The nicest young man just came to repair it, and he had the unit up and running in a matter of minutes. He said the house should be cool in a couple of hours. Till then, the dogs and I are sitting in the car with the A/C going full blast and my laptop hooked up to one of those heavy-duty orange extension cords.

And, no, I'm not going to asphyxiate us. I'm in an open carport as I type this, and we've been spending most of our time out riding around town looking at MCM houses. It's about time to take another ride, but not before I sing the praises once more of Jesse, The A/C Repairman.

  1. My window-mount a/c crapped out in the middle of a hot August last year, so old lady me gimped my way to Wal Mart and got it reinstalled myself. It gets as hot here in southern CA where I live as it does there. Glad you got yours fixed so quickly!!

  2. @1950sarh: You don't know how tempted I was to have someone come install a window unit. It was awful!
