Pacific Standard Time: Ed Ruscha

I've seen several posts the last few days about Ice Cube's video tribute to Charles and Ray Eames. The video is one of a Pacific Standard Time series celebrating the Los Angeles art world. While I really enjoyed the Ice Cube visit to the Eames house, I also liked the tribute to Ed Ruscha by Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis.

Although graphic artist Ruscha may not be quite as well-known to all readers of this blog as the Eamses, he studied art in the mid-50s and had his first solo exhibition in 1963, so the roots of his work...particularly the "word art" for which he's best known...are firmly planted in the mid-century era.
