Once more my daughter and SIL loaded up our two little MCM pickers-in-training and headed out on a road trip in search of more great pieces for the store. And what a profitable trip it was!
They mined an unlikely motherlode of Broyhill
Brasilia in the small town of Dexter, Missouri, which is a 10-hour drive from Dallas. They came away with a dining table and six chairs, including two armchairs, all with original upholstery and all in pristine condition. They also got a
Brasilia buffet, a
Brasilia room divider and a
Brasilia side table. As if that weren't enough, they scored an American of Martinsville bedroom set, a Kipp Stewart Drexel
Declaration side table and a great sofa from the same seller.
While on the road, my SIL an managed to place a winning phone bid at an auction in Oklahoma for another great dining set, which they'll pick up on the way home tomorrow.
I only have a few photos, which include the predictable estate sale knicknacks and gewgaws, so I'll post more when they get home and everything is in the store and cleaned up...with
our knicknacks and gewgaws on them. :)

ReplyDeleteIt's hard to tell from the picture, but those brass dots are the end caps for round brass pieces that make the table top float in the frame. You can kinda see one of them at the very top right corner of the table. I think I need to take more photos today!
DeleteIt must be like Christmas morning when they pull that truck in the driveway. The Brasilia is beautiful. I love the chairs. Wow! Hope they stay in the store long enough for you to get pictures.
ReplyDeleteWe have Christmas morning several times a week around here, as a rule. My SIL is constantly bringing new things in. You'd think I would finally get used to it, but I get excited every time. I'm just over the moon about the condition of the upholstery on the Brasilia. I've never seen any with pristine original fabric, so I can't wait to see it in person.

ReplyDeleteI've never quite figured out why someone who likes really foofy figurines would choose such modern furniture, but that seems to be the case at 9 out of 10 estate sales I attend. Maybe it's just a mid- to Southern U.S. thing...LOL

DeleteWhat a sweet haul!! I'd be falling all over myself getting everything loaded before someone changed their mind. Gotta say I love all the pieces and I'm turning green with envy. Not every day you find a nice score like this!! Can't wait to see more pics...

ReplyDeleteSounded like they were having a great time whenever they called...well, except for the time when Grandson #2 was hungry. 1-year-olds aren't very patient when they want food. :) We're all very pleased with the haul, and I promise we'll find good homes for it in the Lone Star State.
DeleteI have the nine drawer dresser. I don't suppose you ever figured out who made it. What did it sell for?
ReplyDeleteAfter it sold, we didn't pursue identifying it. It's been gone for over two years, so I don't remember what it sold for, but I'd guess just a few hundred dollars.
