| Bud Oglesby |
Enslie "Bud" Oglesby (1925-1993) was born in Phoenix, Arizona, but he was raised in San Angelo, Texas. He received a bachelor's degree in architecture from Cornell University and a master's degree in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
His firm, Oglesby Group Architects, was one of the most important architectural firms in Dallas, Texas for decades, and many of the best architects still working in the city once worked for his firm and were influenced by Oglesby himself.
Oglesby's designs demonstrate his concern with the treatment of the intense light in Texas. He said, "How you deal with light is extremely important. How you let it enter a building, how you treat it on outside surfaces--through trellises, shutters, courtyards and recessed windows--is crucial."

Those are some houses to die for. I've never heard of Oglesby before so thanks for this post.
ReplyDeleteI really wasn't very familiar with Oglesby until recently either. Apparently he was THE Dallas architect for many years. I'm glad you enjoyed the post.
