Although there will inevitably be more cold weather to come, even in the mild climate of North Central Texas, spring will eventually arrive, so it's time to start making plans for outdoor entertaining.
My SIL recently found a beautiful Salterini patio set that sold before I was even able to get this post written. Still, this photo of it is inspiring me to get my own Russell Woodard set sandblasted and powdercoated before springtime officially arrives.

For about three years, I've been trying to identify my patio set, which I bought on Craigslist on the super cheap. I had just about given up on finding out who manufactured it, but as it always happens, I ran across a company that restores vintage patio furniture, and they had a set. According to their identification, it's a rare Woodard set, which I suppose is why I've had such a hard time finding pictures of it anywhere.

I love patio furniture. I'm planning on getting some basic stuff (nothing interesting) sandblasted and powder-coated too.
ReplyDeleteWill you keep your set black or go for the white look? I do like the black in your photo ... but I think my set was originally white ... so confused.
My set was originally white too, and I just spray painted over it...which is a horrible idea, since it just lasts a season. This time I'm going to do it right and have someone sandblast and powdercoat mine black.

DeleteHow do you feel about vintage Brown Jordan stuff. I'm kinda on the fence about it. Some of it is pretty cool looking but I'm afraid those straps would be or get brittle.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had any Brown Jordan, so I don't know how the materials have held up over the years, but I love the line designed by Walter Lamb. Right now we have several pieces from Richard Schultz's 1966 Collection for Knoll, and it's amazing how well it has held up.
DeleteI've seen a lot of vint patio furniture at stores this week. Not in the market for it, but so funny that there were pieces everywhere all of a sudden and now you're talking about it. As always you are a trend setter.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more wishful thinking than trendsetting. I was with a friend today and almost bought two huge ferns for my patio, but I know we'll have another freeze before spring.

ReplyDeleteIf you haven’t repainted your patio set yet, I suggest painting it with gold paint. =D It would look even more elegant than it already is, believe me. Adding pillows with grey or silver pillow cases would also be a good idea. If you have guests who will come over your house and see your patio set, they’d think it’s fit for royalties. ^__^
