In the store: Sleeping in style

The latest addition to the store is a solid oiled walnut bedroom set by Dillingham. The set includes a 9-drawer dresser, a tallboy with attached vanity, a mirror and a king headboard.

Aside from the set's exceptional quality, one of the things that makes it somewhat unusual for a vintage bedroom grouping is the king-size headboard. Many people pass by mid-century bedroom furniture because  they have no use for a full-size bed, but this set has it all...classy looks and a headboard that will fit your bed.

Oh, and did I mention that it's solid walnut? No corners cut on these pieces! My SIL said he's tempted to keep this set for himself...and he rarely says that, so you know it has to be something special.

    1. Should we post a sign declaring ourselves a pajama-free zone? LOL

  2. Having that king headboard is certainly a big plus. I haven't seen any of their pieces in person, but looks like Dillingham made some very nice furniture! Nice lines too...

    1. The headboard issue almost always comes up when we have bedroom furniture. Unless someone is buying for a child's room, hardly anyone wants a full bed anymore. This set is even prettier in person than in the picture, so I'm guessing it will go to a new home soon.

  3. We bought this set over the Labor Day weekend. My wife saw this post and we talked about it every day until we bought it! Thanks for helping it find it's new home, we love it!

    1. It's always so nice to hear from happy customers. You bought a beautiful set, and I'm so glad you're pleased with it...and that it went to a good new home. I get a little attached to the really great pieces, and that Dillingham set is truly gorgeous!

  4. That Dillingham series (the two pieces in front and the headboard) was called benchmark. We have both the bedroom set (queen headboard) and the dining room set, purchased in 1971. They stopped producing it about then. Too much sold walnut required. The tallboy would be the style to which they changed.

    1. Thanks for that information. We hadn't had a tallboy with black trim like that one before and didn't know when that style was produced.
