Ceramic lust

As a former president admitted in a Playboy interview, I've been unfaithful in my heart. I really need to stop looking at things I can't have. I've run out of places to display ceramics, so unless I want to dump all the ones I currently have on the shelves, I can only lust after ones like these.

    1. You're right...it's awful having so many great things on your shelves that you don't have room for any more! :) I love those plaques too. They're pretty amazing.

  2. When I see something I really like, I actually start to feel ill. I do. Those wall discs are making my stomach churn. Have never seen anything like them. Am now desperate to own similar. What's wrong with us? I have too many vases as well, yet still I yearn for more. I've just come home from driving through the streets scanning hard-rubbish on the footpath. I have the four children with their 'eyes peeled'. Solid Gold Dancer #3 said from the back, "Oh, Mum. Why do you like getting old things?" The other day Solid Gold Dancer #1 said, "Mum, there's more to life than chairs and vases." Can you believe that?!

    1. Maybe I'd better thank my lucky stars that my kids are into all this stuff too, so they don't question my obsession. I feel a little ill right now too. I'm in love with the large plate in that same series, and I emailed the seller days ago to find out how much it would cost to have it shipped here. He finally responded, and as it turns out, that particular piece is very heavy. He said it would be at least $105 to get it to me in Texas, so no bidding for me. :(

  3. I don't know what's wrong with Carmel's kids! Ha-ha! Mine are exactly the same. They have been known to curl up into the foetal position so that no-one can see them when I'm poking through the hard rubbish (picked up the loveliest old metal chest yesterday - not a mark or any rust on it. I know it's not your cup of tea Dana, but I'm just saying...)
Anyway, as much as I love ALL of those vases (and I do, I REALLY do!) it's that Ruschka wall plaque and those Trenck discs that are whispering sweet nothings in my ear, luckily there's a bit of distance between us because there's no room for them here either.
How do you identify a Royal KPG vase? I think I might have one...

    1. What is it with those Ruscha pieces that has us all going? And I love the discs too. In fact, I've been trying to think of all kinds of variations on the discs that I can do myself with the clay I used to make the air plant holders.

The Royal KPM mark is a 3-point crown above the word "Royal" written in script and underlined. Underneath that are the words

      Porzellan
      Bavaria
      K P M
      Germany
      Handarbeit

The company's official name is Kerafina, so you also see some pieces marked with a star with four rays coming down. Underneath the star is the word "Kerafina" in script and underlined, and beneath that will be

      Bavaria Germany (on one line)

That's not the only German factory with those initials. Apparantly there are/were several including the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin (Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur).

  4. I don't know much about vases (or much of anything for that matter), but I love the vases ones with orange detail. The colours look so great against the painted white brick wall. The hanging discs are great too.x

    1. I love that tallest orange one with the two little round handles, and I love the chartreuse ones too. I'm not much of a purple person, but I had to include those, because the color is so amazingly vivid.
