Another new item at the store is this extra-long slat bench by George Nelson. It measures in at a whopping 72" long and has an incredibly beautiful patina. My SIL says it's the best he's ever seen.
OH how I love thee, George Nelson! I have this 72 incher at the foot of my bed. It's probably my favorite piece in the house. How lucky that it's in such amazing condition. I too love that patina... a mix of light and dark that only time can skillfully create!
My husband tracked a guy down after seeing him walk away with it at a garage sale. Ended up buying it from him for $50. I'm sure the guy thought he was nuts but we HAD to have that beauty. Great find, Dana. This got my little heart pumping this morning. LOVE IT!
I've seen pictures of your beautiful bench, and I have always been envious (in a socially acceptable way, of course). Now that I know what a great price you got it for, I'm insanely jealous, and I'm not even going to try to be PC about it!!! :)
I'm dying for a 60" one and have my SIL on the lookout. If this one were the right size, it would be home with me already.
