My SIL ran across this French Maison Jansen chrome-based chair from the 1960s at a price too good to pass up. While it's definitely not the type thing we usually carry in the store, it is an interesting take on the classic Thonet bentwood rocker...and if worse comes to worse, we can always rent it out for pictures with Santa Claus. :)

*ALL I CAN SAY IN A LOUD VOICE IS WOW*
ReplyDeleteThat chair is freaking awesome.
People are reacting to it in exactly the same way on our Facebook page. It has more likes than a lot of our really sleek mid-century pieces.
DeleteI remember assembling some inexpensive bentwood pieces from long ago for a furniture company I worked for. This is a much better representation of the original! Nice piece!
ReplyDeleteAnd how perfect the color for the holidays!
One person on Facebook said it looks like Santa's sleigh...LOL
DeleteHo Ho HO indeed. Ridiculous. And awesome.
ReplyDeleteMy SIL had one like this before...in purple ostrich. You only thought THIS one was ridiculous. :)
DeleteWhere can I find this rocker and what is the price range.
ReplyDeleteI had one before we lost our home and everything in it. I am now looking to replace that particular piece.
ReplyDeleteWe sold this rocker a little over a year ago, and I don't remember how much we asked for it. If you would like for my son-in-law to be on the lookout for one, you can contact him via the store link at the top of this blog.
DeleteI have a Maison rocker that needs a new home.
DeleteThe chair is absolutely gorgeous and comfortable. I recently picked one up and had it professionally reupholstered. The detail in the upholstery included hand sewing the bottom upholstery to the seat base. I couldn't be happier, but my husband doesn't think the chrome rocker looks right in our house, so now I have to find a good home for it.
ReplyDeleteVictoria, send a photo to dana@mid2mod.com and I'll see if my son-in-law is interested.
