New posting schedule*

Since September 6, 2010, I've written at least one post a day. (This is the 907th, to be precise.) When I was living alone, that was sometimes a stretch, because I posted even when I was sick or busy with the store or doing a special project for the school district. Now that I have my extended family here with me, it's becoming increasingly difficult to continue doing that.

Many people have asked me how I manage daily posting, and lately I've begun to ask myself the same question. As much as I appreciate my readers and enjoy writing, playing with my grandsons is more important...and more fun...than researching designers and architects, so I've made a decision to start posting on Mondays and Thursdays.

Of course, if something special comes up, or if I find time to post on additional days, I won't hesitate. I'll still be reading and commenting on other blogs every day. I just won't be keeping up the frantic pace of posting that often myself.

I had planned to post today about the first day of work on my new apartment, but we had a white Christmas, which carried over into Demolition Day, so work was delayed. I promise I'll have an update when I post again Monday.

Till then, let's all enjoy what's left of the holiday season, as we get ready for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Oh, by the way...Rebecca at Mid-Century Modern Remodel is having a drawing for a beautiful turquoise vase, and she wants your input on a new masthead for her blog. Drop by and spread the bloglove.

*UPDATE: It's now April of 2016...1672 posts since I started in 2010...and these days I'm posting a couple of times a week, usually on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

    1. Yes, I adore the kidlets...but there are definitely times I'd like to pack them up and drop them off with the UPS guy. And as soon as you take that great blow-up play structure home, you'll be the recipient at the top of the list. :)

  2. 907?!? Wow, that's impressive! I see that I'll have a lot of great stuff to read in the meantime:-) You're got your priorities right, Dana, and with your big building project coming up too, I'm sure the spare time you might have is best spent with those cuties. We're starting to tear down our old kitchen in the beginning of January, so I might have to cut down a bit too. There will be a big "kitchen reveal" afterwards, though:-)

    1. My daughter, SIL and the boys are in New Orleans, so I spent the day with the contractor, picking out tile and fixtures for the bathroom redo we're doing inside...before we start on the apartment. This is definitely going to be a lot of work.

  3. I know how much work it takes to do research on designers and artists. What a wonderful feat to keep posting to the 900 mark, and even more wonderful to give yourself the gift of rest.

    1. It would have been meaningful to make it to the 1000 post mark without taking a break, but sometimes you simply have to examine your priorities. I think a lot of people don't know how to tell themselves it's OK to rest. They seem to believe it's a sign of weakness, but I think taking care of yourselves and family is very important.

  4. Thanks for all the time you put into your posts. I learn so much from you. I am glad you are taking some time to play with the grandkids - you deserve it. Will look forward to seeing you on Mondays and Thursdays!

    1. The kids will only be small for a short time, and sooner than I'll like, they'll be too cool to hang out with Grammo. I intend to take advantage of their adoration as long as I can. :)

  5. Better some Dana than to have no Dana at all. Your real family should come first; your blogger family will wait for you.

    1. I'd hate to leave my blogger family, but I sure do love having more time with my grandkids. This way, I get to have the best of both worlds.

    1. I've had fun posting daily, but it's time for a change of pace. To be honest, though, I already miss it, and it may take a little getting used to. Of course, the little bit of boredom I'm feeling right now is a result of the fact that the kids are in New Orleans for a few days, and I only have construction workers to keep me company. I'm sure I'll feel a lot less bored when they get home.

  8. I read yours and Booktryst every day in my inbox. I have enjoyed starting the day with your posts and I will miss them, but I'm always happy to hear when people need to do more important things like be with their grandkids! Sounds like a lot of fun (and cleaning up) having two little ones around. I look forward to your bi-weekly posts, thanks for the heads-up. Happy holidays to you and your family.

    1. I can already tell that two days a week may not be enough to keep me feeling connected to the blog. Strange as it sounds, it has developed a bit of a life of its own, and I feel like I'm abandoning it...and my readers. The bi-weekly posts may last only till the construction project is over. Then I may bump it up to 3 or 4 times a week.

  9. Not to worry Dana. I think your new schedule will create something different... I am looking forward to posts about the construction project and your extended family in 2013. I kind of do a loose Tues/Thurs schedule myself. But the madness of this December in particular shut me down for ten days. I am back up and at em.
