Handcrafted Modern

I'm pleased to announce that our good friend Hank Tosh (the extremely talented owner of Tosh Mahal, where our furniture goes for extraordinary restoration and refinishing) is now creating his own line of handmade furniture.

We consider ourselves very fortunate indeed to be able to offer Hank's Handcrafted Modern pieces in our store. Take a look at these gorgeous mirror image, bookmatched live edge tables!

    1. Live edge pieces are really becoming popular again. Considering how spectacular Nakashima's designs were, I don't know how anyone ever fell out of love with them.

  3. Those are gorgeous! I was in a shop called Urban hardwoods in San Fransisco this summer and fell in love with this use of the natural shape of the wood. Did you see the coffee table over at the Brickhouse, with the wood slab with the steel legs dipped in neon?
Must be a thrill to get these beauties in your shop, I'm sure they'll fly out at the speed of light!

    1. I missed that on Brickhouse, but I'll have to check it out. I love anything with iron legs!

  6. I'm really liking live edge slab furniture, there are a number of craftsmen in my area playing around with there own designs. One in particular has created tables and benches with live edge slab tops but the bases are more in the " Mission Style", and some have made amazing kitchen islands. I myself am on the hunt for the perfect slab(s), awhile back I posted images of two barn trolleys I bought that I had thought I'd like to use for hanging lighting but am now wanting to use as legs for a sort of industrial/rustic looking park bench for my deck. Also I am looking for a slab to make a coffee table to go with the antique cast iron school desk legs I scored very cheap.....Can't wait to see some finished pics of your house when done.

  7. Hi Dana! Love these tables. A friend of mine was clever enough to recommend mixing in organic shapes with all my modern. She was so right.

  8. Hey Dana, thank you and everyone else for all of your kind compliments. Glad to see these up here. I have these available in different woods, console height or coffee table/ couch height. The legs are actually hand turned solid black walnut with through wedge tenons, contrasting wood on the wedge being solid maple and a solid cherry wood halo. I can also work with you to custom fit the table to the space if need be.
