Well, the Papa Bear has likewise come and gone, selling while we were in the pop-up shop. Now a beautiful Paul Evans side table is sitting on the showroom floor. It's one of his gorgeous, highly textured painted pieces, and we love it.

Update: Here are a few more images taken in our photo booth for use on our website, after the temporary piece of glass shown above was replaced by a more appropriate size.

A beautiful piece, it's amazing what treasures your SIL finds.
ReplyDeleteHe really does have a knack for finding the best things for the store!
DeleteI'd love to be able to shop at your store. Your store makes Ikea things look .... well. Ikea cannot begin to measure-up to the fine things you have.
ReplyDeleteWe try to carry a wide range of items, from very well-designed, affordable new modern furniture to extremely fine classic modern pieces.
DeleteJust my opinion, but the table was invisible till you got up close. What about a cream-colored shag circle rug under it, so customers won't miss such an amazing piece! Could be because it's a photo, too. Maybe it really pops in person!
ReplyDeletePart of it is the photograph, but you're right that we need rugs to make some of our pieces show up better against the dark concrete floor. We've been searching for a good rug vendor.
DeleteWow - if I lived close and had a ton of money my house would be full of your finds!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to stop by and visit on one of your road trips.
DeleteDoesn't it sometimes amaze you when you think back to all the great pieces and finds that have come and gone?!? I thought for sure that by now I'd be jaded, but I'm still like a little kid on Christmas morning every time I find some cool new item...then I can't wait to find that perfect new home for it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I remember thinking the first time we got a great Wegner piece that eventually it would be no big deal, but we have several great Wegner pieces in the store right now, and I get as excited with each new one as I did the first time.
DeleteI feel the same way when I go to the garden at the Kimbell Museum here in Fort Worth and touch a sculpture by Noguchi. Just knowing he touched it too is pretty thrilling.
I've never seen a table like it, so raw and yet refined; stunning
ReplyDeleteI think you just perfectly described his work in a nutshell. Raw yet refined. That's precisely what it is.
DeleteJust stunning Dana! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased for my SIL that the auction was a success.
