The design, which has been available in birch veneer, white laminate and black linoleum, is now also available in orange, green, yellow, turquoise, black and white lacquer, inspired by the colors used in Alto's Paimio Sanatorium.
If you have ever been involved in the debate over whether or not it's a sacrilege to paint vintage furniture, you might be interested in the concept store launched in 2011 called Artek 2nd Cycle, which showcases the company's own reclaimed vintage pieces. Juhani Lemmetti, the founder of Artek 2nd Cycle, said, "Finns often repaint several times over that most popular Arted item--Stool 60--in the latest trendy hues, thereby extending its life cycle."

Now that's cool, from brand new to well used.
ReplyDeleteI think that stack of old painted ones looks very cool.
DeleteSome pieces work well painted. This is definitely one of them!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think so too. I really like the look of these new pieces.
DeleteLooks fine. Ikea has a new rolling cart called Trendig similar to Aalto's cart with the large flat wood wheels.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I missed out on the Trendig 2013 collection. It was only available from October 2013 through February 1 of this year. There were some great things in that collection that I would have liked to buy. Darn!
DeleteI like to paint some things...I'd definitely like one of these with paint.
ReplyDeleteI love the orange one. Like you, I do paint some things, though it's usually new pieces. In fact, I have a metal stool that I'm going to paint sometime this week when the weather gets a little warmer.
