I think she had some work done.

The most comfortable chair we've ever had in the store, hands down, is this Milo Baughman-esque cantilevered armchair. Unfortunately she wasn't the prettiest chair we've ever had in the store. The chrome was in great shape, the upholstery was like new...but she just didn't have much wow-factor dressed all in beige. As much as we loved this well-preserved old gal, we decided it was time for a facelift.

So we ordered some jazzy cayenne red nubby bouclĂ© fabric called "Boom Zeal" by Momentum from winterbeachmodern and dropped the chair off at our go-to upholsterer Larry. Here she is now, looking like a movie star.

What a difference a few nips and tucks make!

  1. I love the chair, and the refurb is nice, can't beat orange but I do like the original fabric, it was understated and sophisicated.

  2. @Pippa: I liked the old fabric too, but for some reason, people would always go straight to the bright colors and pass this one by. We'll see if it finds a new home now.

  5. @DearHelenHartman: Oatmeal says "comfy," but "orange" says vavoooooom...in any era.

  7. That orange is phenomenal! It actually looks like that was what it should have had to begin with!

  8. @Tanya: I may just be an orange addict, but I haven't found anything yet that orange upholstery doesn't improve.

  9. Necrobump (repos--accidentally posted with my wife's account). We have that exact chair. Originally it was in white leather but the original owner's bird destroyed it. My sister had it redone in a burgundy cord of sorts. We're going butterscotch or dark-brown leather. Going by the tastes of the original owner (former Las Vegas mayor Jan Jones) it wasn't cheap. As a kid I sat in that chair in their house.
