Fifty years from now: Alfredo Häberli

Alfredo Häberli was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1964. He moved to Switzerland in 1977 and is now based in Zurich. He received a degree with distinction in industrial design from the Höhere Schule für Gestaltung and has designed furniture and housewares for some of the most important companies in the world, such as Iittala, Kvadrat, Moroso and Vitra.

He combines tradition with innovation and draws on his childhood in Argentina, as well as his own curiosity. The resulting works show tremendous emotion and strong expression.

His works have been exhibited throughout Europe, and he has received many awards. He has also published books on design and designers. Häberli has made such a name for himself that he will undoubtedly be one of the designers still respected and remembered fifty years from now.

  1. Chair 37 and 38 caught my eye. There's also something appealing about the simplicity of the Jo chair.

    1. Chairs 37 and 38 (although I can't see any difference in the ones shown) caught my eye too. I'd also like to have a kitchen designed by him...and all the pieces in the Georg Jensen collection.
