eight six seven five three oh ni-ey-yine

If you love things mid-century like I do (or even 80s retro like the title of this post), sometimes enough innovation is enough. Don't get me wrong. I love the convenience of a cell phone, and I would be hard-pressed to do without one. I'm certain you feel the same way. But admit it. Holding a cell phone on your shoulder with your jaw just isn't as easy as propping a phone there the old-fashioned way.

Oh, I know all about earbuds and earbooms and earwraps and earloops...or whatever the manufacturers have come up with to call all the handsfree devices that are available. Sure, they work, but they simply don't have the great feel of your old pink Princess phone or your mom's yellow wall phone in
the kitchen.

Now you can have the best of both worlds.

French designer David Turpin has come up with the POP handset that attaches to your iPhone or iPad. You can buy an adapter for other mobile phones, and it even works for VOIP computer calls with a USB adapter. The POP handset looks like a classic phone with a bit of a contemporary edge, since it comes in a luxurious soft-touch texture. Hmmmmmm...does that mean it won't slide off your shoulder like the old receivers did? Now that's the kind of innovation I can live with!
