What were they thinking?

I only have one thing to say about this video: Herman Miller should have stuck to print ads.

OK, maybe a few more words...If you love the coolness of the Irving Harper print ads, you've got to see this to believe it. These TV commercials are so bad they defy description.

    1. Aren't these so bad you just can't believe what you're seeing?

    2. Yes. I have few words for this.

  2. Pretty sure that most of these wouldn't be able to air today, what with the misogyny, attempted rape, murder, cartoon nudity, etc.

Not sure what the folks at Herman Miller were thinking.

    1. You've gotta wonder. How could they use such classy print ads and then do such a hideous job with TV commercials? It boggles the mind.

    1. Did you notice that they must have been filming part of that one right in the office with a backdrop, because the phone rang!?!

    2. I'm sure some of our commercials will seem just as bad to future generations...but, seriously, these ARE bad. haha

I just grabbed it off youtube. You might as well have fun with it too.

  8. Haha, the black-and-white ads are campy, ironic genius, I love them!

Now the Secretary ad at the end, that is beyond bad.

    1. I thought I was going to grow old just watching the intro to the secretary one. Really, how many girls' faces did they need to show?

  9. Awful and fabulous at the same time. I'm sure they thought they were being so creative, so innovative, so "hip". NOT!
I had a boss that chased me around the desk like that once. If it had been a herman miller desk I might have stayed. (KIDDING!!!!!)
Like that's acceptable. BLAHHHH HA HAHA! So wrong in so many ways.

    1. Well, I guess if you're gonna get chased, it might as well be around a George Nelson desk...before you put your high heels back on and trot down to HR (oh, excuse me...Human Capital Management) and file your sexual harassment report.

  10. Actually, as a secretary I appreciate the last commercial. No one gives a damn about our personal/professional needs any more.

    1. I appreciate their intentions in the last one...but I thought it was dreadfully done. I don't know if you read my recent series on Herman Miller, but they still have a commitment to studying office needs.
