Two years later, Krenchel created a melamine salad set for the line, taking his inspiration from chopsticks and Asian minimalist design. Before this time, salads were not common on Danish dinner tables, but Danes were just starting to include them in their meals.
The Krenit salad set appeared on the cover of the first issue of the Danish interior design magazine Bo Bedre. The line has been out of production since 1966.
The Krenit bowls have been reissued by Normann Copenhagen. These are made of steel and melamine, rather than the enamel of the originals. Equally suited for kitchenware or decor items, the bowls come in black, white, red, lime, purple, turquoise, blue and green. They start at $18.

I would choose the Lime bowls or go with the yellow if those were out.

I love the lime too. I may have to buy some of the reissues to use everyday. Of course, I'd love some of the originals, but I don't think enamel would hold up to my daily use. Good luck treasure hunting!

DeleteMmmm curried egg? Maybe they are there for aesthetics, pops of white and yellow, she frames the bowl in the foreground! ...oops sorry, I forgot myself, I thought I was at school, teaching analysis to the great unwashed! :)

ReplyDeleteI'd seen these around the internet but didn't realise they were a reissued design. I love the colours but think I'd prefer it if the outer edge was white instead of black.
