Materials such as brick, African Korina wood, Italian glass tile and cork defined spaces and created a serene environment. Sliding glass doors allowed a view of the garden, courtyard or terrace from every room.
The home has 2,720 square feet, four carports, two bedrooms, a library, formal and informal rooms and high ceilings. It was built on a half-acre plot in the prestigious Preston Hollow neighborhood in Dallas, Texas, and now enjoys a canopy of tall, mature trees and perfectly placed ornamental trees.
This is truly one of the finest examples of mid-century architecture in Dallas. It was kept in pristine condition by its original owners until it was listed and sold in 2009 by Douglas Newby.

oh Wow, that is just mid-century heaven. Oh to live in a house like that Dana!!Even the garden is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt truly would be heaven to have a house like that. I can see why the original owners stayed in it over 50 years.
DeleteDon't scare me that way. I was waiting to hear you say it was torn down or remodeled.
ReplyDeleteLet's keep our fingers crossed that the people who bought it in 2009 loved it and have kept it like it was.
DeleteI thought it was going to be a heart-break story too. I couldn't bear to see another gorgeous home torn down. What a beauty! I hope the new owners know what they have. xx
ReplyDeleteThat truly would have been a heartbreaker...but, no. As far as I know, it's still beautiful and being loved by the new owner.
DeleteYour new nest could be an annex to that house!
ReplyDeleteDon't I wish!!!
DeleteThe exterior wall. No the room divider. NO absolutely the mosaic fireplace. I can't decide what I like best.
ReplyDeleteSo much to love...I can't decide what I love most either. It's stunning in every aspect.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous home. I particularly like the dining room. Home envy.
ReplyDeleteI think that's a beautiful room too. That sideboard is heavenly.
DeleteIm no expert, but I believe you just made an excellent point. You certainly fully understand what youre speaking about, and I can truly get behind that. architectural design dallas

Beautiful pictures. Can't believe I found this. William (Bill) Benson is my grandfather. I know a lot of the homes, libraries, and buildings he designed. Thanks for keeping his legacy.
