As time passes, I think our interests and tastes become more focused or refined. For example, you may have started collecting typewriters in general but eventually narrowed your interest primarily to Olivettis. I started collecting pottery made in the 20th century but now mainly buy West German and Italian pottery produced by only a few designers/makers. Even small changes in our interests are reflected in our homes.
Yes, our needs change, and that is reflected in our homes too. While some people are still acquiring collections or families are growing and need larger homes, others...like me...are downsizing. We're all in a state of flux, whether we realize it or not.
Amen. I can't imagine a home that does not evolve with the owner.
