We're moving to a new location! We've outgrown our 1100 square foot store in Exposition Park, so we're packing up and moving to a spot in Deep Ellum that's three times the size of our current store. For you locals, we will be taking the former Century Modern space on Main Street.
For you readers across the country and around the world, Deep Ellum is an arts and entertainment district in Dallas, Texas, that became well known in the early 20th century for hosting such blues and jazz artists as Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson, Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter and Bessie Smith. It is now home to some of the coolest clubs, restaurants and stores in town...and soon to be home to us.
Incidentally, Dallas PinUp will be one of our neighbors on Main Street. The owner is photographer Shoshana Portnoy. She and my daughter became friends in elementary school. I will be doing a post very soon about her fabulous store (and her other exciting projects). Don't miss it!
Congratulations! Is it silly that I first thought Deep Ellum sounds like retro speak for being in bad trouble - if you keep that up you will be in Deep Ellum, young lady. Can't wait to see the new store all done up.
ReplyDeleteHey Dana! Congratulations on your upcoming move! The next time I come to Ft. Worth, Ima comin' ta see ya! 8-)

Congratulation as well! Sounds like you needed more space and this looks like a good fit for you...
ReplyDelete@DearHelenHartman: There was a time in its history when many parents in Dallas may have used the term almost that way. :)
ReplyDelete@Crystal in Texas: Thanks for your kind words. I'm so glad to have fellow Texans as readers. Drop in any time you're up here!
ReplyDelete@A Modern Line: Yes, when my SIL took down the wall between the store and the apartment at the back of the space, we decided we needed to move. Having a long, narrow space wasn't conducive to great furniture arrangements, and then there was that pesky kitchen sitting right in the middle of everything. :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Can't wait to see how you set up the new place :)

ReplyDelete@Tanya: Thanks! We're all pretty excited. Jenn is making plans to launch an online business soon, so we'll all be in this together.
ReplyDelete@Rachael: It's huuuuuuuuuge, so the sky's the limit. We're brainstorming constantly, and I think we'll come up with something good.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Can't wait to come visit you in your new space!
