Star style: Jack Webb

The 1960 house known by some Palm Springs neighbors as the "Dragnet House" was built by actor Jack Webb, who played Sgt. Joe Friday in the 1950s TV show. It was right next door to the house of his ex-wife, singer Julie London, and their young children. The neighborhood of Deepwell was home to many stars, including William Holden, Loretta Young and Elizabeth Taylor and Eddie Fisher.

The current owners wanted to stay true to the style of the 50-year-old house without resorting to mid-century clichés, so they chose contemporary furnishings inspired by period pieces. They replaced Tiffany blue and bright yellow paint with a far more subdued palette of browns and greens, using colors of the mid-century outdoor light fixture as interior accent colors.

The four bedroom, four bath, U-shaped house surrounds a pool and towering palm trees and has a lava rock
exterior, as well as a lava rock fireplace, lava rock bar and beautiful slatted room divider.
