Kylie has an extensive tea towel collection, so shortly after she sent me that one, she had a giveaway on her blog, and I won another one...this time, the most gorgeous floral design I've ever seen. I could hardly wait to receive it!
But, inexplicably, the tea towel didn't arrive when expected. So I waited. And waited. Finally, after weeks, it came in the mail yesterday. As I told Kylie, I guess some faceless bureaucrat decided that she wasn't trying to send me contraband and that my tea towel wasn't any threat to national security, so after encasing it in plastic and the writing, stamping and stickering all kinds of messages on the outside, he sent it on its way to Texas.
I've been waiting impatiently to show them both to you in one post. So, without further ado, feast your eyes on my two beautiful tea towels, courtesy of my sweet blogging friend.
Need to know anything about Australia? Just ask me! |
Is this not the most gorgeous floral you've ever seen? |
Thanks so much, Kylie! I appreciate your generosity and thoughtfulness more than you know.
shes a bit of all right is that Kylie!....and yes that's a very fine floral and just so you know Dana, I live just a little south of Surfers Paradise (which it is by the way).
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend

Yes, Ms. Kylie is tops in my book! The first time I have an opportunity to tell someone where to surf in Australia, I'll be sure to tell them to stop by and tell you hello. :)
DeleteOh my. The red flowers are stunning. The Australia map towel is oh so practical. Who needs an iPhone with Google Maps when you have a tea towel? Plus a calendar from 1980 (the year I graduated from high school). Happy to admit that with NO shame. Well, maybe a little shame.
ReplyDeletePlease don't feel any shame...because if I you have shame about graduating in 1980, how will I have to feel about graduating in 1966? Yikes!
DeleteGo Kylie! Ah the calendar tea towel, now you are reaching the giddy heights of kitsch (some might say bad taste) nirvana. I know because I am the tea towel queen! http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=5175844973239452253#editor/target=post;postID=4413095779402136974
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you left a comment, because that gave me an opportunity to see your fantastic blog. I'm happy to say I'm an official follower now.
DeleteThose certainly bring back the memories; my Granny had them all over the house...in homemade frames of course!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I think everyone had at least one hanging on a wooden dowel in the kitchen.
DeleteGlad tt # 2 finally arrived Dana.
ReplyDeleteI received a similarly intercepted and re-wrapped parcel from the UK recently, but it had an added bonus - a glass cutter(!) Obviously accidently enclosed by the postal powers that be when they gave it the once over. I didn't know what it was, and when I contacted my friend to say thanks, but hey what is that thing? She had no idea. So someone out there is missing a glass cutter. If you're reading this, and it's you, feel free to contact me and I'll forward it. Ha-ha!
p.s. good timing on the Aussie one Dana - it's Australia Day today!
Alas, I had no bonus in my package, not even a glass cutter. But the beautiful tea towel was bonus enough! I love it!
DeleteAnd what's this about Patsy calling herself the tea towel queen!?
ReplyDeleteAhem. I'm going to have to have a word to her. Ha!
I figured you'd be ready for a throwdown when you read that...haha
DeleteI can remember mom bringing back a tea towel calendar from Florida late 70s early 80s just like your Aussie one. Mom also gave me last year an early 20th century Louis XIII(13th)chair that was covered in vinyl ,pulled back the vinyl to reveal the original fabric a velvety material with a floral pattern on the back much like your second image. I'm torn between replacing the fabric or sending it out to be cleaned as it's stuffed with straw and smells a little of it's age.
ReplyDeleteThose travel tea towels were so popular back then! When you get your chair done, be sure and let us see it.
Deletelovely tea towels! Kylie is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteShe definitely is...and her tea towels are gorgeous!
