I agree with this statement. I wouldn't call myself an interior designer, I don't think I'm especially good at it. I have more an of an eye for interesting and sometimes really weird objects. The one thing I do know, is my sister is better at interior design and I am able to ask her when I get stuck. Thank god for family and friends, because interior design accommodates them too!
I think we all bring different talents to the table. My daughter has amazing spatial sense, so she instinctively knows how to arrange furniture in a room. I think it's important to know how choose interesting objects for a room or how to balance colors. Some people seem to be born with all those instincts. If we're not part of that lucky group, it's good to know we have friends and family who will collaborate with us.
It actually makes it more fun when you get to collaborate. I wish I lived closer to my sis!
hey Danahope u are doing well....missed so much in the last few months...i have so much to read thru :)...i loved the quote..and i had to say it :)
Sudha, the little one keeps you really busy, doesn't he? It's so good to hear from you. I miss your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the quote. :)
That's great. I have all of this vintage furniture and odd & ends that I am just dying to put in a future house. I think about it all of the time. Then I see pictures on different blogs of really amazing interior design and it scares me because some places look so amazing but are so different from how I would do it. I guess that's what makes life awesome, everybody has their own way and ideas. I hope I'll be able to do a good job when the time comes to fill, arrange, and decorate my own place.
I think it's really important to put your own personal touches in your home, but I also think it's important to look at blogs and magazines and take some basic cues from the professionals. I've seen some potentially great rooms look awkward because the pictures are too high or too small for the space or rugs are out of proportion to furniture or floating in the middle of the room. Studying the way the professionals make use of space helps us create a balanced background for our great furniture.
This is a wonderful quote and so true!
I think any space...no matter how little potential it seems to have at first glance...can be made beautiful.
