In the store: Danish teak bar by Niels Erick & Glasdam Jensen

Following immediately on the heels of that great orange sofa by France & Son, here's another unique addition to the store that we think you're going to love. It's an expandable teak bar designed by Niels Erick and Glasdam Jensen. The interior has sliding panels that can serve as backdrops for bottles. Check this baby out!

Bardenza?

Or is it a crebarza? I'm not sure what to call it, but I know it's just about the most amazing piece of furniture I've ever seen in my life.

At first glance, it looks like a sleek, sophisticated credenza that would be perfect under a gigantic flatscreen. But drop down one door and open another, and you have an ultra-cool bar with slide-out bottle storage and drawers to hold your bar tools. Open the other doors, and you find ample shelving to hold enough glasses for a large party.

We had this piece completely restored, and I'm sure it will soon find its way into a fantastic mid-century home. In the meantime, I will unabashedly ogle it.

In the store: Set 'em up!

You may have noticed the bar in the photos of our display for the Sebesta Blomberg Mad Men martini mixer a couple of days ago. I thought you might like a closer look.

A delightful mix of wood, chrome and tufted vinyl, there's no mistake that this baby says "Let the good times roll." The weather was nice yesterday, and my SIL pulled it out in front of the store so people could hang out and visit. So much fun!

In the store: Jalk, Brasilia and more

Since we're in transition and have furniture in the old location as well as the new one, we're having a hard time taking photos of everything. It seems that no matter where we are, the camera is always at the other place...or the battery is dead.

Here, at last, is the Broyhill Brasilia dining set, illuminated by a great lamp my SIL found at a recent estate sale.

At the same estate sale, he found a beautiful Grete Jalk sofa that I've already shown you,  but I'm only just now getting photos of the Grete Jalk coffee table he got at the same sale. Both pieces were manufactured by Glostrup.

He also found a Sven Aage Larsen credenza, which was manufactured by Faarup Møbelfabrik. It has amazing doors and lots of drawers.

An unexpected find was this cute little rolling teak bar with leather trim. I love how it looks when open.

New corner, new look

Around here, nothing is set in stone, especially if it has wheels. I've moved my tea cart/bar again, and now it's home to a full set of Hellerware glassware to go with my Hellerware ice bucket and vintage martini shaker. There's even a spot on the bottom shelf for my Kromex tidbit servers.

For a while the cart was in my dining room, but I bought a teak corner cabinet to hold my Iroquois Harvest Time collection, so I rolled it to a corner in the living room. I looked longingly at the Hellerware glasses on eBay for weeks...maybe even months, because the seller kept relisting...and I finally made a decision to buy them. The glasses slip into a metal sleeve lined with cork, which keeps drinks cold and eliminates condensation.

The other day, I could tell that my Carter Brothers scoop chair wanted its old corner back, so the bar got shunted to yet another corner of the living room. To make it feel better about its vagabond life, it got to take the new Nelson knock-off clock with it. The scoop chair got a Kandinsky print as a consolation prize.

Now the bar is complete and in a permanent spot...or as permanent as things get at my house.

Or could I interest you in a cocktail?

Meet the new teak tea cart that has become my bar. She's a three-tiered beauty that captured my heart the minute I saw her. The clear glass top has a 2" frosted band around the edge for added interest. The smaller teak cart that I've owned for years had been refinished by the previous owner, and the color was a tad too red to look good with my dining room furniture, but this one is just right. I've said my good-byes to the old cart and have moved it out to the workshop with all the other furniture that will be going into our soon-to-open store. (I'll be posting more about that in the coming days.)

The cart not only houses my wine, liquor and barware, but it also is home to my Kromex serving pieces, since my new china collection booted them out of the cabinet. My dining room has undergone a major rearrangement in the past week, but everything is settled in its new spot and looks rather lovely, if I do say so myself.

The search is on for vintage wine glasses and a cool ice bucket.
