Construction saga: Pinterest inspiration

I can't believe it took me so long to get into Pinterest. I've been pinning actively for a year, and now I can't live without it.

It's been one of the most valuable tools I've had while working on my current construction project. Why would anyone want to bookmark an item these days when pinning is so much easier, so much more effective and so much more visual? I've kept my "To Buy" lists for the project on Pinterest, marking each item "Bought" as I ordered it. So efficient!

I've also used Pinterest for design inspiration, and here's one.

I'm having a partial wall built between my living room and bedroom, so I asked my contractor to build a two-tier room divider similar to this one above. The wall itself will be 5 1/2" high, and the divider will be about 8 feet long and 2 1/2 feet high and will give me a space to display small glass, ceramic and wood pieces.

I confess. I was pathetic at Pinterest.

I had one puny board, and it wasn't even very good. I kept hearing all my friends talk about their boards, and I kept seeing other bloggers add Follow Me On Pinterest buttons to their sidebars, and I knew my account was languishing...sorely lacking and sadly lagging behind everyone else's. Let's be honest. There was another L word lurking in my head. Loser. Loser with a capital L. But I couldn't seem to get motivated.

Last night I fell asleep on the couch watching TV, and I woke up at a weird hour...4:30 a.m to be exact, which I call weird because I've usually just gone to bed at that time, or I'm still up blogging. I'm not usually waking up then. Stumped for something to do at that ungodly hour, I started to pin. And pin. And pin.

Before I knew it, I had created over 20 boards, all fully loaded with pictures. Now I see why everyone keeps saying Pinterest is addictive. I'm not sure I needed another addiction, since the one I have to Diet Coke has almost reached the intervention level, but at least I've saved face.
