This blog was born on September 6, 2010, and since that date, I have published almost 2000 posts and have had over 5 million pageviews...not bad for something that I created on a whim. It's time, though, to turn my attention to other things, so this will be my last post.

I want to thank all you longtime readers who have followed the opening and closing of our store, our building of the "modernist nest" and our subsequent moves to new homes, as well as the changes in our family.

For those of you who have only recently found the blog, I hope you will continue to use the archived posts for reference when you need to know about the works of specific designers, architects, and artists.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you want to chat about mid-century or modern design or if you have a specific question. I may not know the answer off the top of my head, but I'll try to help you find it.

Keep collecting the things you love!

  1. Sorry to see you leave Dana. I've enjoyed reading your blog. It will stay on my blog list since I do return at times to read your previous posts. Best wishes for the future.

  2. I've enjoyed reading each and every post. You are a wealth of knowledge Dana. Sorry you won't be posting any more but I understand. Life is busy. Thanks, Jamie

  3. Very sorry to hear this, Dana, but you've had an impressive run! I've learned a lot about MCM design from your blog and have always enjoyed reading your posts. Best wishes! Lee Ann

  4. Thank you so much for your time in creating and updating this blog. I enjoyed following your tastes in fine mid-century design. Best wishes to you and your family. Good luck to you in your future whims!

  5. Dear Dana, it was an honor for me to follow your blog the last three years. I understand your decision because my own last post is dated one year ago. Times changes and so we. Wish you all the best for you and your Family! I will definitely use your archive because I always learned a lot and every single post will be an inspiration in the future too.
    Hughes, Ria

    1. hi ria, it's kylie! are you on instagram? i would love to follow you! x

  6. Adieu, Dana. Thanks for a wonderfully informative blog. It will remain a constant go-to. Enjoy your new found freedom from a keyboard. Hope to see you around town.

  7. hi there dear dana, i have just stumbled upon your last post and i had to comment to thank you for your friendship, warmth, humour, thoughtful insight into all things modernist, for sharing your knowledge and for being an all round top chick as we say here in aus. i'm very sorry that we lost touch along the way - time was not on my side when i returned to full time work, and as more and more of my bloggy friends stopped writing their blogs i lost interest too. i admire that you kept writing yours for such a long time and it makes me feel a bit sad that you've stopped. which is silly. i guess in a nutshell, what i really wanted to say is that i haven't forgotten about you lovely dana and that i hope you and your family are well and happy xxx
p.s. please forgive poor grammar/lack of capitals - i fractured my wrist while rollerskating of all things a couple of weeks ago! a klutz like me should've known better! and have just had surgery so only one hand available to type

  8. also i followed you on instagram - i think...but i never see any posts from you. i am a lack lustre instagrammar/dont really like it, but it's an easy way to stay in touch. let me know if you have another alias x

  9. dana, need your help on something - i believe i had snagged a chair a long time ago from the store...and i can't remember what kind of chair it is called - can you contact me at ??

  10. The posts will continue to help others.
