My SIL found a 1970s Eames lounge chair and ottoman in chocolate brown, and I have to say that I like it even better than the ones in black, simply because it's not as common. This one also has the benefit of being produced in rosewood, before the wood was put on the endangered list.
The set is already on hold, with a waiting list of five other people who want it if the sale doesn't go through. Whoever takes the pair home will have something that commands attention and admiration. It's certainly not your everyday Eames!

Such amazing condition! |
Oh wow, a fantastic find yet again. I agree, that's an awesome shade of brown for that rosewood.
ReplyDeleteI think that brown is absolutely amazing, and the rosewood is so beautiful that I'd almost want to display the chair backward! :)
Deletefantastic piece....i m sure whoever bought it is mighty happy :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I have a feeling there will be a happy new owner by the end of the day.
DeleteDag, yo. I got's so much stuff I would trade for that right now! ::Sigh!::
ReplyDeletePretty cool, huh? This is the first time we've had a six-person waiting list for anything! Joe really made a haul this week...Wormley sofa, Dunbar folding X-base tables, Lafer lounge chair, Dunbar desk and credenza, Baughman etagere and a bunch more.
DeleteI like the brown and tans better than the black, has a warmer look
ReplyDeleteI agree...and, to me at least, the black is a little too predictable.
DeleteThat would be my dream chair. What a beauty.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beaut, for sure.
DeleteOf course there is a waiting list with 5 people. My first impulse was to email you and put myself on the waiting list. That brown is fantastic. I haven't seen it before. Thanks for sending. I still have SIL store envy.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter, SIL and grandsons spent the night here last night. My SIL looked at the time this morning and said, "Well, I need to go to work and sell an Eames lounge chair." I think he was pretty confident it would be gone by the end of the day...LOL I hadn't seen an Eames chair in this particular brown either, and it really is a stunner.
DeleteOh it will be gone.
DeleteYep, sold!
DeleteNow that is a stunning chair! Would go great with the sofa in the last post.
ReplyDeleteThat baby was out the door before the dust even settled from moving it in! You just can't beat the combination of rosewood and that brown leather.
DeleteThe brown is my favorite! I think this winter we will be on the hunt for one. Our fire place will be all set up within the month and I can just imagine curling up with a book in front of a warm fire in one of these beauties!
ReplyDeleteYes, that would be the perfect reading chair. Are you having a fireplace built, or do you have a freestanding one?
