Next, I found a 12" (30.48 cm) West German piece by Bay that I had to have. The shape of that handle and the color combination of brown, green and orange were just too wonderful to pass up.

Just when I thought I'd give my eBay account a rest, I saw a spectacular 12" fat lava piece by Scheurich that I wanted, but I thought it was a bit overpriced. Luckily, the listing had the Make Offer feature, so I thought I'd give it a try. To my surprise, I didn't have to wait long for a response. The seller accepted immediately, and I became the proud owner of this lovely vase.

I had a bid in on a Wirkkala Pollo vase...yes, the one that keeps eluding me...but I was outbid. I am determined to continue my quest for one at a bargain price and won't give up till I get it.
Lovely vases! I have a few myself, as you probably seen. Im going to sell some of them this summer, they ar simply too many =)
ReplyDeleteYes, and yours are always stunning! Lucky buyer who gets some of them!!!
DeleteAGH! Vases! Why do they have a hold on us?! They're gorgeous. Hug them for me!xo
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why they're so magical, but I could buy a dozen a week and never get tired of them.
DeleteThese are gorgeous! Good luck getting the Wirkalla, I know you can do it.
ReplyDeleteI am resolute! I WILL get a Pollo on the cheap, no matter how long it takes.
DeleteYou will have your Pollo!
ReplyDeleteBut these beauties will do very nicely till then! xx
Oh, yes...I'm sure I can find vases to distract myself with till then...:)
DeleteNice, and now I'm doing pottery classes I appreciate the all the more!
ReplyDeleteI know you really must be enjoying that! It sounds like such a wonderful way to relax and be creative at the same time.
DeleteAmazing, you really have scored on these gorgeous vases! Show us your display/grouping when you get a chance. Please! :)
ReplyDeleteI bought these to tweak the color arrangement in the room divider I had built for my new apartment. Photos soon, I promise.
DeleteI see an addition to your place!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, the ceramics wing. Maybe you'd better start drawing up those plans for me now. :)
DeleteGorgeous, Dana! There really is something special about vases. They're addictive:-) I hope that Pollo will move in with you soon, your patience will be rewarded:-)
ReplyDeleteThe quest for the Pollo has really taken on a comic element. For no good reason, I became determined to get one cheap, cheap, cheap. I've spent a lot of money on other vases since I started the Pollo Quest, but I arbitrarily made up my mind to get one for less than $50. Thus, the wait. :)
DeleteYay, beautiful vases both! The German lava vase is particularly fetching.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for it to arrive. I think the colors on it will be even more delightful than in the photo.
DeleteGreat vases! I am loving the colors in the Giovanni de Simone.
ReplyDeleteI found a lovely vintage vase this weekend at a yard sale. It's signed and numbered on the bottom. I can make out the numbers but I cannot read anything else as the bottom must have been glazed a little thick or something. I will show it in my next blog post.
I love the colors in the de Simone too. I can't wait to see your latest find. Maybe one of your readers will be able to help you identify it.
DeleteThe brown and orange West German is my favorite! I love a good "punch you in the face" orange. Haha the pottery wing. The problems we collectors have. Luckily you have your SIL to sell off stuff when you want to start over. I use eBay to sell off and replenish. It is SUCH a sickness. But it makes me happy. You too, I know.
