Hint #2: Books, books, books

We always give each other books at Christmas. In fact, I don't think there's ever been a Christmas in my whole life that I didn't receive books. My parents were both avid readers and showered me with books when I was a child. I grew up to be an English teacher and later a librarian, so I still love to give and receive them. Since my daughter and SIL are bibliophiles too, the tradition will go on.

Here are the top two on my list this year. My SIL is now an authorized seller of Taschen books, so I don't think it will be hard to get what I want.

Someday, I want the three-volume set. It retails for $300, so even at wholesale, it's a pricey gift. I may have to save my pennies and treat myself to this one.

  1. Yup, sisters under the skin; there is no better gift than a book in my opinion.

  3. I love the Neutra book and refer to it often, but online buyers should beware it was published in two formats. The first edition (June 2000, ISBN 3822866229) was a gigantic 18.5" x 13" in a real wood cover (!) with the title in a stencil font; it runs around $400. Taschen also published the book for their 25th anniversary (October 2010, ISBN 3836512440) in a smaller 13.3" x 10.3" format in a regular hardcover with the title in a Neutra font (shown above); it sells for ~$50. I think the only content difference is the size of the photos. FYI.

    1. Like the box set, the $400 Neutra book would be nice to have, but it may stay on the wish list for a while.

  4. Saw the smaller Neutra edition at Barnes and Noble like I mentioned to you earlier.

  5. I've asked for a new book for Christmas too...about Australian houses. I hope Santa receives the letter. Those books you have on your wish list are on mine too...one day. xx
