And there was light

As I mentioned the other day, my SIL has become a hanging light addict. He started with Nelson bubble lamps...the gateway light for most MCM lovers. Then he moved up to a Lightolier and then a Doria. But today's two acquisitions mark his move to the seriously hard stuff. And there are no immediate plans for an intervention.

This one is a marked Robert Sonneman design. We're talking thirty-six 40-watt bulbs! My SIL says it's like a supernova when he turns it on. Crazy! Notice how similar it is to the Achille Castiglioni Taraxacum in yesterday's post? However, the bulbs on the Sonneman lamp are on separate stems, instead of mounted by threes on metal triangles like the Castiglioni lamp.

The SIL also scored a svelte little Danish pendant by Fog & Mørup that's painted orange on the inside, so when it's turned on, it casts a gorgeous reflection of color on the metal above and below.

If this is to be his addiction, count me among his enablers! In fact, I could easily find myself hooked on lamps this beautiful.

    Wow to both of them but I have to say, that Danish pendant completely blows me away! How can Joe let go of that??

      The Danish pendant is my favorite too. I seem to get more attached to things in the store than he does. He appreciates their beauty, but he remains businesslike about selling them...and about turning right around and finding new items to replace them. I get emotionally attached to specific pieces.

      I don't think finding bulbs will be nearly as difficult as paying for the electricity!

    Both are fabulous!
    I lol'ed reading "I don't think finding bulbs will be nearly as difficult as paying for the electricity!" SO TRUE SO TRUE! And I imagine that light could really warm a room up too.

      Well, there ya go...You could keep the light on all winter instead of turning on the heat...LOL

    Great post as always-I want more. I think, I had 2 of the Robert Sonneman chandliers (chrome and brass) but they didn't have the caps and I couldn't find any markings. They let off a lot of heat

      We very often find that lamps are unmarked. I wonder why that is.

      I understand that a lot of lights are marked in the ceiling cap and they are often lost
