In the store: Bringing in the sheaves
Picking was bountiful and resulted in two "sheaf of wheat" pieces for the store. One is a 26"x25" side table by Edward Wormley for Dunbar. It is made of laminated ash with brass fittings and a travertine top. The matching coffee table is attributed to Wormley and measures 36" in diameter. They're such a beautiful pair.

ReplyDeleteI really have to credit it to his work ethic. Over the past couple of years, he's put in an enormous amount of work to build a HUGE network of pickers, dealers, consignees and collectors who contact him when they have something good. And he ALWAYS has his cell phone or iPad in his hand...looking, looking, looking for things himself.
DeleteHe's also built up an impressive reference library and studies every book cover to cover. When we started the store, I knew more than he did. Now he leaves me in the dust. That has allowed him to find some very, very rare and valuable pieces that most people would have passed by.
