Her pieces are highly functional, but they are also extremely sculptural. The shapes are organic and fluid and incorporate interesting materials that create designs reminiscent of space, water and nature.
In 2004 Hadid received the Pritzker Architecture Prize. She was the first woman to receive this prestigious award. She won the UK’s most prestigious architecture award, the RIBA Stirling prize, two times. Other awards included the Republic of France’s Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and Japan’s Praemium Imperiale.

Oh yes, Zaha Hadid is really something else. Her fluid, organic shapes work equally well in buildings as in furniture, art, industrial design and even shoes, and put her in a class of her own! I had 't seen her shoes before. There seems to be no limit to what this clever woman can do!
ReplyDeleteWhile her furniture is not my style, I have to say that her creativity and her ability to translate her undulating forms into so many types of products is really amazing to me. She is certainly imaginative and prolific.
