That's where I am now. I'm on a quest for upholstery fabric for my sofa. I want something dark, like a brown or a charcoal, that has little flecks of orange and gold. I've ordered sample swatches of these:

More importantly, I've decided I want a Saarinen Womb Chair in orange. I don't know how long it will take me to find an original in good condition that I can afford. I'm known for being impatient, so I'll probably buy an affordable reproduction to use as a "placeholder" till that fantastic bargain rolls around.

In the meantime, it's back to bed for me. I've been out of commission for a couple of days now with the world's worst head cold/upper respiratory thing/flu, and I don't want you to catch it.
That was one of the funniest things I ever read - "I don't want another thing for the house!" Hahahahaha... you weren't serious were you? Not while there is still so much vintage to be reclaimed! Love the chair - though not sure I could get up out of one.
ReplyDeleteSorry you're sick. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI love houses that evolve. I can never leave things the same...it's just not possible. I love the chair, real deal or not. No one would know but you (and your daughter and SIL)! I love the second fabric (focus) but they are all beautiful.
Feel better soon, Dana!!
ReplyDeleteThe fabric samples you posted are lovely. They will all look great with an orange womb chair. The first fabric, in particular, is so fabulous.
@DearHelenHartman: Yeah, I must have been delirious when I wrote that. There's no such thing as "done," is there? I'm not sure I could get up out of the chair either, so I'll make the 30-somethings sit in it.
ReplyDelete@Midcenturymadam: I actually love change too. I used to completely redecorate every two years or so, but since I've been collecting mid-century pieces, I've left things alone a little better.
ReplyDelete@Tanya: I really love the first two fabrics. I can't wait to get the swatches. Then it will come down to how many yards Modern Fabrics still has on hand, I guess.
ReplyDeleteMo, I think you should go with the second fabric. It will be a nice contrast to your wall color.
