Kreativ Blogger Award

Pam at Virginia Retro kindly awarded me the Kreativ Blogger Award. If you haven't seen her beautiful collection of vintage linens, you really must visit her blog. You're in for a treat.

Recipients of the award are asked to tell seven things about themselves, so here goes:

1) I have a Jens Risom coffee table known to my grandsons as the "Magic Table." They are allowed to draw with erasable crayons on its laminate top, because it cleans off with baby wipes...like magic.

2) I pin craft ideas to my Pinterest board "For the boys" and do projects regularly with my grandsons.

3) I grew up in a family of singers, artists and poets, and I still like to dabble in all three.

4) I showed Tennessee Walking Horses when I was a teenager.

5) I was a hippie in the 60s and 70s.

6) I have 18 tattoos, the same as Ray Bradbury's Illustrated Man. (I have an autographed copy of the book.)

7) If I hadn't become an English teacher (which I loved), I think I would have wanted to be an architect.

I'd like to pass the award along to the following blogs:

    1. It's not just everyone who has a magic table, for sure. My 2-year-old grandson is really impressed. He tells his mom that she and his other grandmother don't have magic tables like Grammo's. :)

My hippie decade left me with very cool memories indeed! Sometimes I miss those days.

  3. You would make a great architect or interior designer even with 18 tattoos.

    1. Most of them are intentionally placed so that I clean up well. I could slip right into a DAR meeting and hardly be noticed, except that I might be the only one there who didn't have blue hair. LOL

  4. Thanks Dana! Architect would be my choice if I had it to do all over again. My second choice would be a buyer for mid2mod.
Wow, 18 tatoos? Did you have to hide them when you were a teacher?

    1. You find so many fantastic things that my SIL would probably love to have you as a picker! I started wanting a tattoo when I was 19 (and a hippie), but I knew I probably couldn't get a job teaching in the early 70s if I had one. I waited 25 years, and decided if you've waited that long and still want something, you should go for it...so the first one I got was on my wrist so everyone could see. By that time, I was an experienced teacher with very high student achievement, so I knew I wasn't going to get fired...:)

  5. Dana, thanks so much for accepting the award! Don't you miss being a hippie? I was only a semi-hippie, LOL! Where did you hide those tattoos when you taught English? Love your 7 things.

    1. Four of the tattoos are in plain sight if I wear a dress. Only two show if I wear pants...or three if I have my hair up. My students always spotted them right off the bat, but that gave me a chance to talk to them about postponing doing anything permanent to their bodies till they were old enough to know how it would affect their lifestyles. I'm glad I waited...and I don't regret a single one. I know some people who don't feel the same way about theirs.

  7. I love learning more little facts about you. I knew about the tattoos (so cool!) but learned so many new things :) You would have been an amazing architect but I think the world is a better place because you became a teacher. I'm certain you changed many, many students lives for the better! Do you pin the finished products on Pinterest, too? I'm not sure I've seen many of your crafts/art projects and would love to.

    1. I haven't created a board for my art and crafts projects, but I'll try to get around to it soon.

I was truly blessed to be able to work with so many young people over the course of 30 years and to see so many of them turn their lives around.
