Part 1: Staging a penthouse

1400 Hi Line, a luxury high-rise in the Design District overlooking downtown Dallas, is having a grand opening party tonight, and two of the penthouses will be staged for viewing...one by us and one by Roche Bobois. Art by Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas (CADD) will be on display.

When we left around midnight, there were still a few things left to do, so it's back today for some finishing touches, but here's how the space looks so far. (That's Dallas from the 23rd floor in the background.) Special thanks go out to Dustin Orlando of Circuit 12 Contemporary and to friends Robert, Peter and Josh for all their help. You guys are the best!

I'll show you all the finished rooms tomorrow and maybe even a few Instagrammed party shots, even though I'll be home relaxing with the boys while my daughter and SIL meet and greet.

    1. When we left, the art was going up. We still have a couple of pieces of furniture to move in as well. We just snapped these shots on the fly as we were leaving. We'll take our time tomorrow and get better ones when everything is finished.

  2. Wow! That looks amazing and also like so much fun-slash-work. Can't wait to see more. What a great idea to have you guys stage a unit -- usually in STL all the ones I've seen have brand new furnishings in it but some MCM style would swank up a place way more! Cheers - CT

    1. Our signature style has evolved into a mix of classic vintage modern with some really cool new modern, so we've mixed Blenko glass, fat lava pottery, Eames and Quistgaard and Bernhard Pedersen & Sons with Gus*Modern, MASH Studios and Bend for what we think is a cool, elegant look. It was a lot of work, but it was soooooooo much fun!

    1. We decided to be a little creative with the space in the one-bedroom unit and style it for a single person who needed an office more than a dining room, since there is a nice sized bar/eating area.

  4. Wow, I bet this was so much fun! That view is amazing. I'm sure the staging is pretty fantastic too. Can't wait to see more.

    1. We had a great time doing it! The only downside was that we were trying to move into the new store at the same time. It was "work a few hours here" and "work a few hours there"...and a lot of "work past midnight." :)

    1. The view was absolutely amazing. You could stand on the balcony and see to the very outer limits of Dallas, both north and south.

    1. I was really pleased that we found that particular rug. It's one of the prettiest cowhides I've ever seen.
