Popping up in the most unexpected places

Three weeks ago, we announced that we'd be opening at our new location in the Dallas Design District on July 1. We were very excited about that, because we had originally been aiming for August 1. Then the current tenant decided to move out early, putting us in a month sooner than we had anticipated.

A couple of days ago, we found out that the tenant now wants to stay till July 15, causing us to look at an opening date of August 1 again...until the leasing agent offered free rent for our trouble if we wanted to set up shop temporarily in a vacant space two doors down.

The popularity of pop-up shops made that sound like a pretty good deal, so we're planning to open our doors late next week. We'll stay at our temporary location longer than most pop-up shops do, but we're going to have fun with the concept, and we think our customers will too.

My daughter and SIL are currently on a buying trip, but as soon as they get home Saturday, we're all shifting into high gear for this impromptu move. I'll keep you posted on our progress.

    1. Luckily, I won't be moving any furniture. I'll be home with the boys while the younger folks do the heavy lifting. :)

    1. You're right that there are no half measures around here. If we can't find a challenge, we make one. :)

  3. Can you pop up in Brisbane? Like say, Queen Street, so I can pop in at lunch time?

    1. I've learned never to say never where my daughter and SIL are concerned. If you had asked me two years ago if he could turn what essentially started out as a antique mall hobby into a business that would allow both of them to quit their jobs in this short a time, I would have doubted it...but I was wrong. Don't count out a pop-up shop in Brisbane someday. :)
