In the store: Baker New World
One of the most beautiful pieces in the store right now is a buffet/credenza from the Baker Furniture New World collection by Michael Taylor. It is exquisitely made of walnut with carved rosewood pulls, has drawers and storage compartments behind its doors and is finished on all four sides. My favorite thing about the piece is the floating top. Such simple elegance and attention to detail!

our local craigslist has the same piece right now...its in a beat up shape..i wish i had space in my tiny apartment :) and of course means to transport it.
ReplyDelete@Sudha: If it's cheap enough, someone should buy it and have it professionally refinished and then resell it. There's a painted one on 1stdibs that's listed for $4200.
ReplyDeleteOMG that would be so amazing to hide... I mean, store new purchases in. It's beautiful.
ReplyDelete@DearHelenHartman: A friend of mine used to have a formula for how long she had to leave things in the trunk of her car before she could say to her husband, "Oh, this? I've had it for ages!" I don't know what she does now that she drives an SUV. :)
ReplyDeleteDana, I thgt of having it for myself..but space issues :(...being in a tiny one bedroom apartment kind of restricts my design plans
ReplyDeleteThat's one gorgeous piece of furniture! The prices on 1stdibs are way out of my league and you need to have some deep pockets. There was a Tempestini lamp like the one I have now, that I posted on some time ago, that was going for $1600 w/o a shade and I guess they sold it..
ReplyDelete@A Modern Line: 1stdibs prices are way out of my league too, but it's a great place to find out if your estate sale find is worth anything or if you should grab something off Craigslist, even if it's to fix up and resell. If we saw a piece like this one cheap on CL, even if it was in bad conditions, we'd buy it, have it professionally refinished and still make a tidy profit on the sale.
