Craving a credenza?

My SIL spent the past several days expanding the store to twice its original size and moving in scads of new items, including credenzas, sideboards, wall units, sofas, an Eames lookalike chair and ottoman and a whole Milo Baughman living room suite...sofa, coffee table and sofa table all from the same Thayer Coggin collection.

I've been under the weather, so I haven't been to the store yet, but I did manage to get out this afternoon and pick up a pair of Milo Baughman chairs that we just had reupholstered in a deep earthy green. I'll be showing you these elegantly understated beauties in a few days.

Since I haven't seen the new furniture, I was thrilled when the SIL posted these photos on our Facebook page to whet everyone's curiosity/appetite while we get everything priced, entered into inventory and put up on our website.

  1. Gorgeous! I'd love one of those credenzas to use as a TV stand, but I can never seem to find anything like this in STL.

  2. @Nick: We've sold over 20 credenzas since we opened in March, and almost all our customers have bought them for TV stands. We even sold a really cool one recently that had smoked glass doors, which made it perfect for audio equipment too. We almost always keep two to four in stock and try to carry a broad range of prices from around $450-1200, depending on size, condition and designer/manufacturer. Road trip! :)

  3. I love the transformer. Honestly, hubby and I have concluded we will NEVER buy furniture new again. Why would be want all that junk when gorgeous stuff like this is still around?

  4. Lovely! The space must be HUGE now. So exciting.

  5. @DearHelenHartman: I agree with you and your husband completely. In my entire house, I only have 4 pieces of furniture that aren't vintage: two small metal side tables from CB2, a metal platform bed from Crate and Barrel and an Ekornes chair. To get the durability of vintage furniture, you either have to buy metal or spend a fortune. And where are you going to get furniture that has as much style as vintage?

  6. @Tanya: The wall and the orange door are gone, and the store is the full 1200 sf...but Joe is seriously considering a move to an even larger space after the holidays. (Actually, we're keeping the door for sentimental reasons. Some people frame the first dollar their store makes; we're hanging the orange door on the wall.)

  7. We have a very similar credenza to the "Great big knobs and sculpted pulls" one - except the knobs are on the cabinets. And we used it as a TV stand for a long time (now it's general storage).

It's one of my favorite pieces, but I can't find any info on it. Does yours have a marker's mark or any other identifying marks? I'm sure it won't be sitting around the store long

  8. @Justin: I just called the store to get info, and my SIL was making yet another trip to his warehouse. My daughter was frantically trying to finish setting the floor before customers start coming in and asked me to call back later, but I promise I'll try to find out about the credenza before it sells.

  12. @Sudha: It's a shame you see so many things here that you want and we can't figure out a way to send them home to you with my SIL's friend!

  13. @A Modern Line: I'd say credenzas are our #1 seller, hands down.

  14. @Vintage Hunter: We try to keep a fairly broad range of sizes and prices. The smallest we've had was 54" long, but they usually range from about 60"-84" in length.
