At home above the trees
Several days ago, 1 Kind Design did a feature on a home near me in Cedar Hill, Texas. It was designed by Cunningham Architects in Dallas, Texas, and is built on an escarpment overlooking several thousand acres of the Cedar Ridge wildlife preserve and Joe Poole Lake. Built with a stacked stone wall and boasting a dramatic observation tower, it is one of the most spectacular homes I've ever seen. From the tower, homeowners are elevated above the treetops and can see distant views of Dallas and Fort Worth. The house is constructed of Texas woods, copper, slate and glass.

Wow.
ReplyDeleteI would love being open to the outdoors during the day, but at night; I want NO one to be able to see me. Am I the only one who feels that way?
Again, what a gorgeous place and what a vision someone had to design, build and live in such a home.
I have a feeling that this home is so far off the beaten path that no one could see them at any time of the day...but I'm like you in that I don't want anyone looking in my windows at night either.
DeleteHmmmm, I could live in this house quite easily Dana. It's stunning. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes, if the owners get tired of it and want to give it to me, I certainly won't turn it down. :)
DeleteWhoa! That bent-wood chair is crazy. I'd love a big, open home with tons of windows like this. I bet they get some amazing views of those sunsets.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the furnishings are as cool as the house itself. And I'm sure the views are stunning. I used to live in that town, and the surrounding area is very pretty.
DeleteSo gorgeous. I wonder if more than once somebody thought it was an office or medical building though.
ReplyDeleteOr one super-duper treehouse! :)
DeleteStunning house! I bet it cost a fortune to build and likely costs another fortune to maintain!
ReplyDeleteI'd venture to guess that anyone who can afford to build a house like that in the first place doesn't worry about how he's going to pay his monthly utility bills...LOL
DeleteWhat a beauty. Thanks for this peek!
ReplyDeleteI loved getting a peek at it too. It's right up Interstate 20 from me, but I have no idea where, so this is probably as close as I'll come to seeing it myself.
DeleteLovely, but I'd need a cleaner!
ReplyDeleteIf I could afford that house, I'd hire a whole cleaning crew and never lift a finger. :)
DeleteW.O.W! Stunning.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think I could live in the observation tower for the rest of my life.
DeleteThis is a beautiful house. Using the glass to show off that view and the ceiling gives the illusion of more and more space. Loved looking through these pics thanks Dana
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the post. I'm still amazed every time I look at the photos of this house.
