My new toy

My SIL has a project for me, and it involves a photo studio table top lighting kit similar to this one. The one he ordered comes from Cowboy Studio, a local camera supply store, and it comes with a 24" light tent, two table lights, four color backgrounds, and a camera stand. The light tent folds up into its own compact carrying case.

I've been wanting one of these for quite some time, so I was thrilled when he ordered it. I can't wait to get started! I'll tell you all about the project in a future post.

    1. I'm glad he decided to get the larger size. I think it will come in handy.

  2. Believe it or not I do not have one. I use soft boxes on my studio lights. I've been wanting one of those, but I don't have room! I love Cowboy Studios. Great prices. I've bought quite a bit from them over the past few years.

    1. I had been pinning all kinds of ideas from Pinterest on DIY photo boxes, but when I actually started pricing the materials to make one, I found that this wouldn't be much more expensive, and it can be stored under a bed when not at the store.

    1. All that's holding me up is deciding where to set it up. I have three boxes full of items to photograph, so it's going to be set up for a while.

    1. I might actually have to sit down and read a book about photography now instead of flying by the seat of my pants. :)

    1. My SIL does all the furniture photography, as well as the photographs of lighting and large objects. It's time for me to step up and start photographing the smaller items. This will be so useful.

  6. These are great. I've DIYed a few of them out of thick cardboard boxes for myself and a few others but one that breaks down would be ideal! Have fun with it!

    1. I was planning to DIY one out of foam core, Velcro and clip-on shop lights, but I found out it was going to be more expensive than I had estimated, so this seemed like a better purchase over the long haul.

    1. Almost all my photographs have had the same plant in the background, because there isn't another spot in my little house with a remotely suitable background. That plant is getting a little boring, so this will give things a new look.
